Welcome!

August 2026
Dear East School Families,
It is with great excitement that I join the East Elementary School community as your interim principal. I feel truly fortunate to support the incredible students, staff, and families at East, and I look forward to partnering with you in the year ahead.
Please know how deeply I respect what makes East such a special place. My top priority this year is to provide you and your children with continuity, stability, and steady leadership while the district conducts its search for a permanent principal next spring.
By way of introduction, I recently retired from Westwood Public Schools, where I spent 14 years serving as both an Elementary Principal and the Director of Social Emotional Learning. Prior to that, I taught in Milton and served as an elementary principal in Hull and Easton. I hold a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Boston College, as well as a Master’s in Educational Administration and a Bachelor’s in Education and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts.
Throughout my career, helping every student thrive academically and making sure every single child feels safe, valued, and seen have been at the heart of everything I do. I am fully committed to honoring East’s traditions and upholding the core H.E.A.R.T. (Helpfulness, Effort, Acceptance, Respect, and Teamwork) values that shape the culture of this amazing community.
Over the next few weeks, my primary goal is to listen and learn all I can from the staff and families who make up this amazing community. Open communication is essential to a strong partnership, and I always welcome your thoughts, questions, and insights. You can reach me anytime at dtobin@sharonschools.net.
Enjoy these final, beautiful weeks of summer! I look forward to meeting many of you soon.
Warmly,
Donna Tobin, Ed.D.
Interim Principal, East Elementary School
